Over the last 60 years, the development of pesticide resistance in arthropod pests has provided immense challenges to effective pest management. To date, hundreds of species of arthropod have been reported as being resistant to at least one group of insecticides or acaricides and in many cases such resistance has made pest control difficult or uneconomic.
The best strategy to combat insecticide and acaricide resistance is to take all practical steps possible to try to prevent such resistance from occurring in the first place. Key to this strategy is effective detection and monitoring of pesticide resistance. i2LResearch Ltd is one of the few Contract Research Organisations that is able to offer sponsors a comprehensive, high quality, pesticide resistance diagnosis and monitoring service.
i2LResearch Ltd has many years of expertise in the diagnosis and characterisation of pesticide resistance in a wide range of arthropod pests. This expertise allows us the flexibility to tailor a service to your needs. Specialist facilities include:
Pest rearing
Pesticide susceptibility testing
Pesticide cross-resistance testing
Resistance monitoring by biochemical and molecular assays
Pesticide metabolism studies with analysis by thin-layer chromatography, HPLC, LC-MS, and GC-MS
This service is offered in collaboration with Cardiff University. For further information contact Dr Graham Small.
