i2L Research Ltd routinely conducts a wide range of efficacy testing for the Agricultural and Horticultural Industry. Trials are performed to GEP and in accordance with the European Commission Directive 93/71/EEC for the requirements of Efficacy Evaluation. We have a dedicated team of trained staff and can conduct trials over different geographical regions. We are able to conduct efficacy trials under controlled laboratory, glasshouse and field situations
We have dedicated controlled environment space at i2LNorthEast comprising of 12 specifically designed climatic chambers. Using these chambers we are able to perform trials under precisely controlled temperature, humidity, light intensity and day length. Such facilities are ideally suited for trials including slug or insect behavioural studies, phytotoxicity assessments and product stability/integrity analysis.

We have access to an extensive glasshouse complex comprising of 5 glasshouses; 3 of which are fully benched (380m²) and are climate controlled. The remaining 2 are unheated (90m²). Typical glasshouse studies include efficacy testing of insecticides, fungicides, phytotoxicity and crop safety trials.
We have over 350 caged arenas for simulated field studies. These are available for
Our caged arenas can be used in support of our field trial data packages.

We have established excellent links with local farmers and growers and have access to large numbers of field sites. Protocols usually follow approved EPPO and/or CRD Efficacy guidelines, however, where required, individual protocols can be developed to accommodate specific trial demands. i2L Research Ltd is also able to apply for any Experimental Approvals which may be required from CRD for trials on un-approved products. The typical field sites include wheat, barley, spring and winter Oilseed rape and potatoes.
In addition, located on site at i2L NorthEast field station, we have polytunnel facilities (80m²) and maintain our own area of cultivated land (2,500m²). This space is used for more specific trials on high value vegetables or ornamentals. Typical studies conducted on this site include molluscicide and insecticide trials on brassicae, strawberries, potatoes, beans and ornamentals (including roses).
