i2LNorthEast is a branch office of i2LResearch Ltd, established in the North East of England, in March 2005.
Directed by Dr Catherine Whaley, i2LNorthEast allows the company to offer 2 geographical areas for UK field studies.
i2LNorthEast occupies an office and laboratory suite at the Newcastle University field station at Close House. The company has access to extensive glass-house, poly-tunnel, and field facilities on a rental basis, and works closely with Dr Gordon Port, head of the field station, and an internationally recognised expert on molluscs.
Services Offered
The i2LNorthEast branch office concentrates on the following areas:
Mollusc studies
Dr Whaley is an internationally recognised expert in mollusc studies. The company offers a comprehensive laboratory, caged-arena, and field testing services, for a range of slug and snail species, including Arion spp, Deroceras spp and Tandonia spp.
i2LNorthEast has recently announced the formation of a Mollusc Centre of Expertise.
Regulatory Support
i2LNorthEast offers, in collaboration with Barkwith Associates Ltd, a Regulatory Support facility to assist clients with the registration requirements for both the Biocide Directive 98/8 and Directive 91/414 (concerning the placement of plant protection products on the market).
Services include:
- Consultancy service to provide advice and assistance on current regulatory requirements.
- Preparation of testing programmes - this will be in consultation with the appropriate authorities.
- Preparation of Biological Assessment Dossiers (BAD) and efficacy overviews.
- Assistance in maintaining and expanding existing efficacy dossier portfolios.
Herbicide testing
The company offers a glass-house and small scale field trials herbicide testing service, including moss control.
All data collected in accordance with Good Experimental Practice.
i2LNorthEast also offers other agricultural and horticultural field trials in addition to those outlined above.
